<title>Attended the Animation Show of Shows, put together by Acme Filmworks head Ron Diamond, just last week.   Standouts included a new 20 min. film &#8220;Maska,&#8221; by the legendary Brothers Quay, &amp; on the other end of the spectrum, the new Looney Tunes Roadrunner short.
Ron Diamond introduced the night with some background on this limited engagement series &#8212; it&#8217;s provided him a way of sharing some of the best films that he finds in international festivals, yet don&#8217;t necessarily get Oscar nods and mostly aren&#8217;t available on the internet.   But he urged the audience to not &#8220;liberate&#8221; the films online (many offered for sale on dvd collections) which may seem like a contradiction these days.
To drive the point home, the screening included &#8220;Love and Theft&#8221; by Andreas Hydake, a film that&#8217;s been online for a while but I&#8217;ve never quite had the patience to sit through.  It&#8217;s mesmerizing on the big screen.  Here&#8217;s the little screen version of it &#8212; perhaps try headphones and sitting super close to your monitor.</title>
